CONDITIONS FOR COMPLETION OF COURSE
The basic condition for successful completion of the subject is 100% participation in lectures and exercises during the semester and successful completion of the interim control test. In case of excused non-participation (illness documented by a doctor's certificate - only once during the semester), there is no need to make up for the missed exercise. Unexcused non-participation in exercises is dealt with in accordance with the study regulations of the UVLF.
Learning outcomes
The study subject provides the basics of general surgery for providing first aid to a traumatized patient as well as the basics of local and general anesthesia and monitoring of a critical patient. The result after completing the subject is the ability of students to treat an open wound on the body of dogs with a stoppage of bleeding. To learn to apply bandages to the body after an injury and to immobilize a limb in case of fractures. The student is familiar with congenital and hereditary surgical-orthopedic diseases that have a basis in genetics. This mainly concerns dental, eye and orthopedic diseases. A graduate of the course can make an X-ray for dysplasia of the hip and elbow joints in dogs and evaluate it.
