Anotation
During the solving the project VEGA 1/0358/16, which will finish this year, we finished development and we have registered patent (PP50081-2016) for probiotic preparation for honey bees, containing autochtonous bee L. brevis B50 BiocenolTM (CCM 8618) on pollen carrier. This preparation showed a potency to improve gut microbiota composition, to inhibit the growth of Paenibacillus larvae, to increase condition of bee colonies resulting in higher honey yields and cleaning activity, and interestingly, also significant lower incidence of Varroa mites. Based on these results we suppose that our preparation also has a direct impact on bee immunity. Therefore we would like to continue with the research and study mode of action of probiotic preparation, especially its effect on immune answer of honey bees and quality of bee products. The results will augment knowledge about the mode of action of probiotics in bees, as well as in general about the immune response of bees, as our knowledge is currently very limited in this area.
